Welcome to Showtyme Basketball / H2 ! (High Hoops)2011 was Showtyme Boyz Inaugural year U12 / 6th Grade... DIVISION 1! We have shifted from the Ft. Myers Tigers to The Showtyme Boyz ! We are extremely excited to start playing basketball this season! We will be playing 10th Grade Division 1 this season! Our mission is to invest time and energy into the development of individual players, expanding their game skills, to deepen their understanding of the game, to develop character and good sportsmanship and to instill values to last a lifetime. Basketball is a game, but through it life lessons can be learned. As a Showtyme Boy, we value teamwork far above individual accomplishments. We believe and teach that the sum of 5 players effort far exceeds the total contribution of 5 individual players. We believe that hard work and effort put in off the court is a direct relationship to the fun and excitement experienced on the court. What we look for? We look for players with decent game skills, players dedicated to the game of basketball, players that have an internal passion for the game. We look for players that have focus, practice hard on their own (self motivated), have a competitive drive to be the best, strive to do their best, and are open and teachable to learn and improve their game. We believe that these intangibles are as much or more important than specific skills. What we teach: A structured motion offense game plan, with defined offensive roles and game rules. We promise that these boys will REALLY learn how the game should be played both on offense and defense. Our defense will be a mix of man to man and various zone defenses. Our drills are designed to instill and improve individual and teamwork skills while working on offense and defensive skills at the same time. Our USSSA and AAU participation goals. To play in organized USSSA and AAU leagues and various tournaments throughout Florida Georgia. Currently, there is no plan to travel out of state unless the team becomes successful at region level, state level and getting a bid to Nationals. At that point as a team we will determine as coaches and parents if competing at a national tournament event is an option. We are about playing the game of basketball at a higher level than rec ball, middle school ball and YBA. As coaches we have a passion for the game, a sincere love for kids and a deep desire to provide a fun, challenging competitive environment. We value and teach good sportsmanship, ethics and teamwork. Our goal is to help players individually reach higher levels of their game, to help them realize their goals and dreams. We believe in creating a positive, encouraging environment that strives to build confidence in a player. We believe winning is important, but not at the cost of integrity. We coach to win, but never by taking short cuts or cheating or playing underhanded. We believe that character above all and good sportsmanship will be the lifelong skills needed when they are off the court. We play the game by the rules, that they are key essentials to the game.
